More opportunities to volunteering will be available as time goes. Young people at the university of Dodoma will be trained with our qualified and experienced team.
They will be the peer educators at the various colleges performing assigned duties for a period of 1 year.

You are encouraged to increase your skills in writing applications that are relevant to the posts applied.This will also help you in achieving a success when dealing with other applications(in other issues).

THE GENERAL MEETING


The club held the general meeting on 18th NOV 2012, at the college of social science,   for reporting to members on activities done and planning for the new academic year and activities to be done by the club members.

Agenda of the meeting involved the following:
  • Opening the meeting
  • Introduction
  • the activities  under the plan for the first semester, which are the following:
  1. the training of peer educators. this will be supported by the head office to prepare 30  peer educators at the university of Dodoma who will help in performing organization duties.
  2. the seminar training to all colleges independently, to ensure students both new and continuing students are aware on health  and sexual reproductive health issues that may hinder nice stay and performance in studies as well as future generation,
  3. providing community service at MAKULU ward in DODOMA REGION, targeting youth basing on life skills, sexual reproductive health, environment affairs,and entrepreneurship.
  4. opening bank account
  5. undertaking normal activities like radio presentation and school out reach.
  6. the formation of committee to easily participation of members in events and planning.

the administration requests/calls for all UDOM CLUB MEMBERS and new MEMBERS to register and update informstion to fulfill the information required in preparing baseline data for ILO tranning, the seminar will be provided by ILO to restless development UDOM members in the preparation for community service that will be provided in MAKULU village, DODOMA Region To inculcate students with requsite skills and knowledge with the community and youth outside schools, and strengthen the sense of volunteerism for community developement.

VOLUNTEER PEER EDUCATORS APPLICATION GUIDELINE

Do you want to be a Volunteer Peer Educator in your university/college with Restless Development Tanzania?

Restless Development (www.restlessdevelopment.org is the leading global youth-led development agency whose mission is to place young people at the forefront of change and development. We have been in Tanzania since 1993; delivering rights based youth development initiatives in rural and urban communities through peer-to-peer education led by national and community volunteers. Presently, the focus of our work is in sexual and reproductive health and rights, livelihoods and employment, and civic participation across the Southern Highlands and excluded areas of Dar Es Salaam and Dodoma.

Restless Development Tanzania is recruiting enthusiastic and self-motivated young university students to be volunteer peer educators in our Next Generation of Leaders program in Universities based in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma. Selected volunteer peer educators will participate in an intensive 5 days training designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge to deliver the Next Generation of Leaders activities. You will work part-time in your respective university/college for a period of 12 months engaging in-university/college youth health and HIV prevention and leadership and career development activities.

What will it involve?
Training
As an implementer of the peer educator program, you will be trained for 5 days.

The aim of the training will be:
·         To provide volunteers peer educator  with information and knowledge relevant to carrying out the peer and work assigned to them
·         To provide skills and methods necessary to best deliver, monitor and evaluate the peer education activities.
·         To impact on your life through improvement in knowledge and your personal behaviour change, life skills, career development, livelihoods and entrepreneurship skills that will eventually enable you prepare yourself for job market, self employment as well as enable you to take positive control of your sexual and reproductive health. 

Placement
12 months as a volunteer peer educator in your relevant university/college

What will you do?
You will be based in the university/college leading the implementation of the NGL activities with the support from the dean of the students’ office. You will be expected to work with the existing college/university structures including student government organizations, groups, youth at risk, health workers and students on a daily basis. You will lead sessions on SRHR and Rights, Condom demonstrations, Educational sessions on risky behaviours, youth employment and livelihoods such as leadership, career development , outreach events.

Will you get paid?
To be accepted on the program, you must be willing to be a VOLUNTEER.

What will Restless Development expect of you?

·         To work as a team and be collectively accountable for all Restless Development activities in your college/University.
·         To abide by Restless Development value, volunteer code of conduct, and all the policies governing Restless Development volunteers.
·         To remain on the programme for the full 12 months.

What can you expect from Restless Development Tanzania?
·         5 days of training as mentioned above. During this period you will receive transport allowance as per prevailing rates, meals and accommodation will be provided.
·         Restless Development will work closing with the dean of students office to sensitise and prepare the university/college to receive the volunteer peer educators and also support the implementation of the programme.
·         Restless Development programme team will conduct monthly support and supervision visits to all volunteer peer educators in our university and college we are working.
·          You will benefit from a career development session to build your capacity in seeking for employment
·         A certificate will be provided at the end of your service. 

Selection criteria
  • Age  18 – 28 years old
  • Be a  university or college  student
  • Having served as former Restless Development volunteer or any other youth led organization will be an added advantage.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Restless development UDOM club (formerly SPW) as the youth charity branch of Restless development Tanzania program. The club was established in November 2009 as a youth club dealing with basic goals which are Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), Livelihoods and employment and civic participation to build capacity to youth and enhance development. Currently the organization has expanded to environmental affairs and other current issues that may positively or negatively affect youth under the urban program dealing with the university students.
                           ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED
The club with precisely cooperation among members, peer educators, mother organization-Restless development Tanzania, the University of Dodoma, and other development partners like  FHI, PSI, Barclays  Bank,  Mwangaza FM,  and Startimes Dodoma blanch has successfully conducted various activities pertaining youth development:
v                                        Radio presentation at Mwangaza FM
v                                          Peer education
v                                  Youth forum on youth and development policy
v                                   Career  development through career days
v                                      Health talks within the  university
v                         Being provided with the office to work precisely and ensure message delivery to youth within the          university
v                     Cinema shows concerning Sexual reproductive health (SRH) and Health
v                  Providing certificates of Volunteering to volunteers who have graduated.
                    PLANNED ACTIVITIES
(       A)   COLLEGE PROGRAMME ON HEALTH AND SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
With the rationale of providing peer education to university students basing on health and sexual reproductive health specifically on HIV/AIDS  and stress management  to new students and continuing students, it is intended to reduce  the rate of HIV/AIDS new infections within the university and enhance capabilities of adopting with the environment to new students for sustainable participation of youth in development affairs.
The programme shall involve the college of humanities, social science, informatics and the college of education with the college of medicine by providing seminars to each college.
                            Topics to be covered;
v  The meaning of sexual reproductive health (SRH) and health,
v  Sexual transmitted diseases specifically HIV/AIDS,
v  The HIV virus  life cycle,
v  HIV/AIDS transmission,
v  HIV/prevention,
v  Factors that influence HIV/AIDS new infections,
v  How to live with HIV virus when infected.
On health:
v  Stress management.
AVAILABLE RESOURCES

(B)   PARTICIPATION IN UNIVERSITY LEAGUES
Participating in leagues within the university by providing peer education and peer advise  on:
v  Sexual reproductive Health-STD’S and STI’S
v  Money management
v  Stress management
v  Environmental protection within and out of the university basing on cross passing.

(C)   PROVIDING PEER ADVICE WITHIN THE OFFICE.
The club will be providing peer advice to youth on matters that may hinder nice stay and preparation for studies at the university as well as precisely participation in development affairs national wise and international development.
The club requests assistance and cooperation from the university and other development partners to facilitate successful operation of activities to build an empowered youth generation willing and able to apply their careers to effect development.
